water-themed day

Now that the weather's been nice, the little man and I are going downtown more frequently for lunch dates with Papa. Today we ate at Peavey Plaza where they have Tunes at Noon. However, we did not hear any of said tunes due to the fact that Elian wanted to sit within arm's reach of the roaring water fountain. After our lunch we all shared a giant scoop of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie in a bowl. Note to self: bowl is no less messier than a cone. Then we dropped twigs and leaves in the fountain and watched as it cascaded level by level to the bottom. And if you think the little man can see a Port-a-Potty and not suddenly get the urge to go to the bathroom, you'd be wrong my friend.

Then as if that didn't make for enough fun in a day already, after "nap" time, we headed on over to the water park by our house. The little dude is getting a lot braver by the day, and he was jumping into the pool like nobody's business. A trip to the bathroom revealed a drain in the floor. Did I mention the boy loves drains...and pipes...and downspouts...? Perhaps it's the marble-run-esque nature of how the water travels through them. So back to the drain. He sees it in the floor and says: "A drain! A beautiful drain...Oh, it's so beautiful...what a beautiful drain..." Do I see some plumber crack in his future?

We had a great time at the water park except for the part when he wanted to go down the water slide and I told him he had to be 42 inches. Amid all the tears he said, "Maybe next time we come I'll be big enough."
